Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Swindon Salary: £42500 + £9300 shift premium. Shifts: Rotating AM/PM Monday–Friday Benefits: Enhanced holiday, pension, life assurance, wellbeing support, annual bonus

The Role

A global manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with solid mechanical and electrical capability. You’ll support production reliability through planned maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and general facilities upkeep.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete PPMs, corrective work, and urgent repairs on production machinery.
  • Diagnose faults across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support safe, efficient running of manufacturing lines.
  • Carry out basic building/facilities maintenance.
  • Communicate daily with the Engineering Supervisor and work closely with production teams.
  • Coordinate external contractors and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Work with suppliers and fabricators to source parts and support small design/modification tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and fault‑find 3‑phase systems, motors/drives, control circuits, and electronic components.
  • Strong mechanical skills: pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics/pneumatics.
  • Confident with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic machining/welding.
  • Positive communicator and proactive team player.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable
  • AutoCAD/SolidWorks experience.
  • Electrical diagram software knowledge.
  • Siemens S7 PLC familiarity.
  • CMMS experience.
  • 18th Edition certification.
